Born out of a healing paddle-out during the Black Lives Matter movement, Paddle for Peace is dedicated to “Diversifying the Coast.” Through surf, healing, and environmental stewardship, they break barriers to ocean access and uplift BIPOC, low-income, and underserved youth.
Un Mar de Colores
Based in Encinitas, Un Mar de Colores centers surf therapy and mentorship to foster joy, belonging, and healing for communities historically disconnected from coastal spaces. Celebrating cultural diversity and building community, they create spaces where the next generation can thrive, connect, and lead
Native Like Water
For over two decades, Native Like Water has guided Indigenous teens and young adults in restoring sacred relationships with water through conservation, cultural connection, wellness, and adventure. Their programs honor ancestral traditions while fostering resilience, community, and new opportunities that inspire future caretakers of the ocean.
Coastal Defenders
Dedicated to supporting Indigenous nations’ rightful land and water guardianship, Coastal Defenders provides resources, knowledge, and advocacy for clean, safe aquatic access. Bridging environmental protection with traditional practices, their work ensures coastal spaces remain places of healing, learning, and resilience.

Committed to turning leisure into a right, not a privilege, For Our Neighborhood provides access to outdoor adventures for under-resourced communities. Through representation, advocacy, and constructive outlets, they plant seeds of hope and empower people to thrive.
Birch Aquarium
Birch Aquarium features the groundbreaking work of Scripps Oceanography and UC San Diego scientists as well as conservation breeding programs and interactive exhibits. Its mission is to connect understanding to protecting our ocean planet, which it achieves through engaging hands-on learning opportunities.
